I accidentally paid my rent twice. How can I get my funds returned to me?
Unfortunately, we are not able to reverse resident payments in our system due to a vendor restriction. The fastest way to be refunded is to contact your bank and have a stop payment placed for your double rent payment.
If you are unable to stop the payment, once your payment clears and your account is otherwise paid in full, we can cut a check, mail it to you or have the check ready for pickup at our office. This option typically takes three to five (3-5) business days.
Please notify our office by phone or email and let us know that the rent was paid twice so that we can assist.
Who do I contact for rent payment issues?
Contact your leasing professional or email hello@longforddc.com.
Is there a drop box for rent payments?
Some offices have drop boxes. Online payments are recommended.
Can I sublease?
Longford does not allow sub-leases. However, we do allow a resident to temporarily be added to a lease after completing an application and being approved. Once the time the temporary resident will move they can be removed from the lease. There is a $500 administrative fee for this process. The alternative is to follow the steps related to ending a lease early and starting a new lease.
When my lease ends, I am leaving but my roommate(s) wants to stay
It’s great that one or some of you want to stay! This is a relatively straightforward process. In summary, you will be asked to find a replacement roommate(s) who meet our screening requirements and execute a new lease. Longford can help you find a qualified replacement roommate for a standard leasing fee (usually 80% of one month’s rent). Please reference our related articles Exchange of Resident Guide and How to End a Lease Early, which provide some helpful guidance. Please note there is no fee to replace a roommate at the end of the lease term provided you sign a new lease with a one-year minimum.
What’s the deadline for giving notice to vacate?
